FAQs
What is the difference between Sports massage and Physiotherapy?
Sports massage focuses mainly on muscles and soft tissues to reduce tension, improve mobility and support recovery. Physiotherapy assesses and treats a wider range of injuries and movement problems using techniques such as exercise rehabilitation, manual therapy and education.
Do I need to be an athlete to have a Sports massage?
No not at all. Sports massage can benefit anyone experiencing muscular tightness, stiffness, work-related tension or discomfort from exercise and everyday activities.
Can I book a maintenance or regular treatment appointment?
Yes. Regular treatment may help people who train frequently, have physically demanding jobs or want support with ongoing mobility and muscle tension. Plans will be based on individual needs rather than a fixed schedule.
Do you only treat Western Baths members?
No we are open to anyone to come and receive treatment. We have treated people from all over Glasgow, people who are visiting on holiday as well as people from further afield.
Can I exercise after a Sports massage?
It is usually best to avoid intense exercise immediately afterwards, particularly following deeper treatment. Gentle movement, walking and drinking water may be recommended. We recommend looking at sports massage as part of your training for that day.
Will I receive exercises to do at home?
Often, yes. During your Physiotherapy appointment home exercises will be recommended to improve strength, flexibility, balance, mobility or confidence between appointments.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes we offer gift vouchers. These can be purchased from the clinic directly or via email and posted out to you for an additional P&P fee.
Is parking available?
There is paid on street parking, as well as parking located at Lilybank car park which is a 5 minute walk from the clinic.
